Welcome to the RMM blog

This blog is aimed at Engineers and Applied Mathematicians interested in developing tools (both algorithms and software) which can handle, at the conceptual level, the three difficulties that are usually met in any real world project :

  • The data are missing or corrupted ;

  • The laws describing the phenomena are not completely known ;

  • The objectives are multiple and contradictory.

  • The RMM program site is hosted at the SCM site. Bernard Beauzamy has devised a list of the different aspects of the on-going program. There are as follows:

  • What is a model ?

  • Mathematical description of the objectives

  • The basic rule of real-life mathematics

  • Can we model everyday life preoccupations ?

  • Probabilistic methods

  • The four steps of an RMM program

  • List of participating people and institutions

  • On going events

  • RMM Library

  • Any new items on these pages will also be featured on this blog.

    How can you find out if there is something new on the blog ? You can either:

  • Come to the site, or

  • Subscribe to this feed (see right column), or

  • you subscribe to the blog by e-mail (on the top right hand side column) and receive new posts/entries directly in your E-mail box.

  • Do you want to contribute ? You can guest blog or send me some information you want to feature. If you want to post an article to the blog and want to post under your name, you will be asked to obtain a Google account. If you do not know or do not want to go through the hassle of going through this process, I can also post the entry directly into the blog with your name.

    On a different note, Wim van Ackooij and myself have created a LinkedIn group devoted to the RMM program. If you are on LinkedIn you may want to join. In order to do so, please go to either Wim or Igor's profile on LinkedIn and click on the RMM group logo to which they are currently affiliated.
